'cvs -nq update' giver en god oversigt over, hvilke CVS-relaterede ting, der skal gøres. Jeg plejer at have "alias cvsstat='cvs -nq update'" (og kører i øvrigt aldrig masse-commits).

Hvis du bruger Emacs som editor, er der genveje for CVS-ede filer - specielt er 'C-x v v' rar (funktionen vc-next-action : vælger en passende af add/update/commit/ingenting).
