EPO er interessant!

Vi (Danmark) har været med til at oprette EPO via 
vores tiltræden til München-konventionen (mener jeg 
det var). Hvem holder øje med EPO?

Normalt er offentlige organer udsat for en vis form for 
opsyn - og vi kan skride ind overfor dem hvis de er 
urimelige handlinger fra deres side. En skoles ledelse 
kan få en påtale fra ministeren, bestyrelser ser på 
universiternes ledelse osv.

Men for EPO er sagen en helt anden!! EPO er nemlig ikke 
bare en institution - men en *overnational* institution 
- fik I den? Nej vel, de er ikke underlagt nogen eller 
noget - ingen kan bestemme over dem. Det er således 
skammeligt at EPO driver politik og ikke driver deres 
virke med en faglig profil.

Dr Roland Grossenbacher, bestyrelsesformand for det 
administrative råd hos European Patent Organisation 
udtalte f.eks. lige efter den europæiske konference 
sidste år, hvor der var 20-0 afstemning imod at lempe 
på lovgivningen for patenter på software

"The Conference Resolution which you have before you 
 makes it quite clear that there are a number of 
 outstanding issues of some significance, in particular 
 the protection of computer programs and biotechnology 
 inventions, which require further analysis. The 
 European Patent Organisation has been urged to make 
 preparations for a further Diplomatic Conference. 
 Proposals for further revision might include software 
 patents and the changes required to implement the 
 Community patent without delay. 

Dette kan læses som "vi kommer igen på endnu en 
konference hvor vi nok skal få styr på de software 
patenter".

og ja - jeg er bange for EPO......
