Det interessante er at SCO selv har distribueret Linux. Det gør at de får
problemer med at håndhæve patenterne. Hvorfor? Jo, pga. GPL-licensen:

"if a patent license would not permit royalty-free redistribution of the
Program by all those who receive copies directly or indirectly through
you, then the only way you could satisfy both it and this License would be
to refrain entirely from distribution of the Program."

Hvis SCO håndhæver deres patent har de således ikke ret til at
redistribuere Linux-kernen under GPL-licensen. I det tilfælde har de altså
krænket ophavsretten hos dem der har kode i kernen. Det inkluderer bl.a.
Free Software Foundation, Alan Cox og mange andre der ikke ville være
glade. De kunne så sagsøge SCO for denne krænkelse, og så gætter jeg på at
SCO taber flere penge end de vinder. (For slet ikke at snakke om goodwill,
men den er vist væk nu.)
