I 20-F fra 1998 siger Nokia: "Nokia is actively involved in and strongly promotes the creation of open standards, resulting in even higher global volumes, economies of scale and rapid migration towards the wireless information age."(sid. 5) og "Nokia management believes that rapid, innovative and regular new product introductions are critical in order for Nokia to maintain its leading position in the global market for mobile phones. Such introductions include both new versions of existing products and completely new models. Depending on products, it generally takes Nokia from less than a year to two years to develop a new product line from the research stage to final production." (sid. 9) og "The principal value-added component in mobile phones is computer software. Thus, like the market for telecommunications systems, success in the mobile phone industry requires continuous development of new software."(sid. //Erik
