Server historie !

Nedenstående er et <snip> fra en Borland NG.

One of our clients had just the one IT guy running their network, and
virtually no budget. He gets sick of all the demand for improved performance
with no budget to deliver, so he gets the idea of sticking a few things on
one of the old servers. He loads Linux on it (he doesn't need budget
approval, because it doesn't cost anything) and puts some of the network
tasks on to it. It goes well, so over the next few months he migrates more
and more stuff from the main server to the Linux server, until finally it is
running everything. No one notices anything, except the network doesn't have
as much downtime. He keeps the main server running (but doing nothing) as
cover, because management were very proud of it.

Almost a year later, he goes on holidays. Now, he works in the room with the
servers, and management have the bright idea of painting the room while he
is away. Of course, they don't want to shut down the network while they
paint, so they decide to just work around the servers. Of course, there is
an accident - the main server goes over, paint is spilt, there's sparks and
*boom* - end of server.

The painters go out into the office to confess to the accident - and
everyone is going "What do you mean, the network is down? Everything's
running fine!". So they have to ring up the IT guy and say "There's been an
accident - the main server is in a smoking mess in the corner of the room.
Why is the network still running fine?".
