Parantesen er nødvendig, ellers er der syntaxfejl:

Det er altså »;« der er en fejl.


Prøv f.eks.
sleep 100 & ; ls
og
(sleep 100 &) ; ls


`sleep 100 & ls` er helt klart at foretrække.  Parenteserne starter en
ekstra kommandofortolker og koster derfor (en smule) ekstra
ressourcer.

Konstruktionen 'sleep 100 & ls' er OK i en konsol , men i en kommandolinie i en genvej er parantesen nødvendig.
Da jeg på grund af emnet for denne tråd indså at det burde være muligt at starte to programmer i en genvej, bruger jeg det nu til at starte Firefox og Thunderbird fra een icon i KDE-panelet.
Kommandolinien
(/opt/Firefox/firefox-installer/firefox) ; /opt/Thunderbird/thunderbird/thunderbird
starter de to programmer, men hvis man fjerner parantes og semikolon dør opstarten. Der må være em fejlmeddelelse et eller andet sted, hvordan man finder den ved jeg ikke.
