IBM and software patents

Vi må hellere begynde på en PM om dette.
Den er beregnet for linuxtoday o.l. men kan vel også gå til dansk/
svensk presse.

Transcriptionen er ikke helt klar endnu.

---------------

On saturday the 2. march 2002 Dr. Karl-Heinz Strassemeyer from IBM in
Böblingen, Germany, gave an interview to Ole Tange from SSLUG during
Linux Forum 2002.

The main question was: How does IBM deals with software patents
when IBM is developing Linux?

Dr. Karl-Heinz Strassemeyer said:
* IBM does ship Open Source software with patents.
* IBM does only submit patches to the Linux kernel after they
  are cleared for any patents.
* IBM does not have distributions because it is too risky
to make a patent infringement in that way.
* IBM does not use Linux in embedded systems because there
could be a hidden patent in the kernel.
