Det løste det heller ikke.
Jeg mistænker lidt at det er relateret til længden af linien.
M$ filen er på 48 KB i en linie.

Og popen() duede heller ikke?

Hvis det er en xml-fil, så kan du enten kører den igennem xmllint og --format for at få den struktureret.

En anden løsning er at lave disse ændringer i input inde i php, med fx preg_replace() , se
http://dk.php.net/manual/en/function.preg-replace.php
under "Example #3 Replacing several values".

Ellers lyder det som om der går noget galt et andet sted i dit program. Har du prøvet bare at læse filen ind med fopen() og så skrive den ud? Prøv dernæst med popen("cat fil","r") og se om du får hele filen.
