En opskrift paa hvordan man laeser inittab:

Foerst laes man inittab saa du forstaar hvordan filen er formatteret. Se 
kommentarerne in din inittab. I grove traek sker der foelgende ved boot:

Din bootsector starter en af dine kerner op - det er det, du har 
specificeret i /etc/lilo.conf. En del af det, der staar i config.sys 
i DOS, er parallel til visse dele af kernens configuration - fx. 
modul-support. Kernen (pid 0) starter init (pid 1), som laeser 
/etc/inittab.

Foerst eksekveres den sektion, der hedder 'System initialisation' -
label si - dernaest 'Update' (label ud) og endelig skiftes til det
runlevel, der er 'initdefault' (label id). Hvad der sker naar der
saettes runlevel afhaenger af de tal, der er listet i det andet felt
i hver linie i inittab - i min inittab staar der bl.a.:

l0:0:wait:/etc/rc.d/rc 0
l1:1:wait:/etc/rc.d/rc 1
l2:2:wait:/etc/rc.d/rc 2
l3:3:wait:/etc/rc.d/rc 3
l5:5:wait:/etc/rc.d/rc 5

1:2345:respawn:/sbin/mingetty tty1
2:2345:respawn:/sbin/mingetty tty2
3:2345:respawn:/sbin/mingetty tty3
4:2345:respawn:/sbin/mingetty tty4
5:2345:respawn:/sbin/mingetty tty5


Paa min maskine er initdefault 3 - saa foerst udfoeres /etc/rc.d/rc 3
og derefter startes 5 instances af /sbin/mingetty.

Hvis du vil vide hvad der sker i stoerre detaljer, maa du laese de
scripts, som udfoeres under si, ud og ved start af runlevel. Jeg er 
ikke helt sikker paa om jeg har faaet det hele med eller om raekke-
foelgen er rigtig - det lader vi vaere en opgave for laeseren.
