Jeg har Maxtor diske, og har aldrig haft problemer. De har nu kørt i henholdsvis 4 og 5 år. To styks 80GB monterer i raid1. Som det fremgår af nedenstående ses det tydeligt, at den ældste har en højere arbejdstemperatur end den yngste. Jeg har påmonteret ekstra harddiskkølere på begge diske - skinne med to blæsere på hver hardisk. Herudover har jeg 2 90mm kabinetkølere siddende i kabinettet, hvoraf udsugningen er placeret udfor harddiskene.
