Det kan du sagtens. du skal 1. partitionere disken; 2. lave filsystemer på den;3. definere mount points; 4 mounte... og så kan du tage disken i brug:

1. fdisk /dev/<det devicenavn disken har fået, f.eks. hdb>
fdisk forekommer i disse GUI-tider lidt primitiv, men løser opgaven. cfdisk kan også bruges, hvis man har den. Husk at afslutte med w for "write".


2.mkfs.xxx /dev/diskdevice1
mkfs.xxx /dev/diskdevice2
mkfs.xxx /dev/diskdevice3
osv.

"xxx" erstattes af en forkortelse for den ønskede filsystemtype, eksempelvis ext2 for ext2

3. edit /etc/fstab og tilføj linier a la

/dev/hda4        /u               ext2        defaults         1   2
hda erstatter du med det relevante devicenavn.

opret derefter de directories, linierne i fstab(de nye) refererer til

4.mount -a && mount
dette vil vise hvad der mountet af filsystemer og de nye skullle gerne være med på listen.


Voila!

Ovenstående opskrift fungerer for alle slags diske, ikke kun for RAID.
