Skifte til NOOP IO scheduler i 2.4 kerne

Jeg kunne godt tænke mig at se om en ikke-optimerende IO scheduler vil give mig bedre performance på en maskine som mounter nogle filsystemer fra en SAN box. Dette er naturligvis inspireret af Alan Cox' snak på Linuxforum i lørdags. :-)

Nu ville det jo være simpelt hvis det var en lidt moderne Linux maskine, men det er en RH-Enterprise som stadig kører med kerne 2.4, og så vidt jeg kan læse mig frem til kan man ikke skifte på køretid i 2.4. (?)

Er det korrekt forstået at jeg skal boote maskinen med en kerne option der hedder "elevator=noop", for at få den til at benytte denne?

-og vil det så betyde at denne vil blive brugt til alle disk-devices?
(i 2.6 kan man angive en scheduler pr. block device)
Maskinen har jo stadig operativsystem og programmer liggende på lokale SCSI diske - det er kun de ekspporterede data som er på SAN.
