Java selv er vist ligeglad, men andre (såsom Ant) vil gerne have JAVA_HOME til at pege på javas top level directory, som hos mig er:

robert-debian:~/code/LobbyNG $ echo $JAVA_HOME
/usr/local/java
robert-debian:~/code/LobbyNG $ ls -l /usr/local/java
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root staff 11 2006-08-30 14:09 /usr/local/java -> jdk1.5.0_08

Denne løsning gør, at jeg bare skal lave et nyt symlink, når jeg installerer et nyere JDK og ikke omdefinere JAVA_HOME (og PATH).

OK det vil jeg så tolke som at kald af hhv. java og javac via symlink virker!
Tror jeg vil tillade mig at kopiere din strukturering, da det var noget i samme retning jeg selv var på vej udi.
