Den korte udgave er:
1) lav et raid ved siden af uden den existerende disk, evt. bare et "failed" raid1 mirror med kun en disk.
    2) mount det raid som /mnt
    3) find / -xdev | cpio -pm /mnt
    4) ret i fstab så root er det nye raid
    5) ret i grub/lilo.conf

Jeg har nu kopieret filerne over på nyt raid med kun sdb1 (endnu)

Jeg har rettet i fstab på nye raid partition:
/dev/md0       /               ext3  defaults  0  0


Mdadmin er nyt for mig. I /mnt/etc/mdadm/mdadm.conf står kun:

DEVICE partitions
CREATE owner=root group=disk mode=0660 auto=yes
HOMEHOST <system>
MAILADDR root
DEVICE /dev/sdb1
ARRAY /dev/md0 level=raid1 devices=/dev/sdb1


Grub er jeg hellere ikke erfaren med, men er kommet til i /boot/grub/menu.lst:

title Ubuntu 8.04.3 LTS, kernel 2.6.24-26-server-RAID-0
root (hd1,0)
 men har ikke tilføjet noget for
kernel
root=UUID=
initrd
savedefault
boot

som i de ekisterende bootoptions (eks som ubuntu har lavet automatisk):

title		Ubuntu 8.04.2, kernel 2.6.24-23-server (on /dev/sdb1)
root		(hd1,0)
kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.24-23-server root=UUID=d033dc00-1c88-4de4-93e2-a32068145edc ro quiet splash
initrd		/boot/initrd.img-2.6.24-23-server
savedefault
boot

Er der noget der mangler eller skal ændres eller giver anledning til bekymring?
